The origins and history of DNLA and DNLA GmbH

from the 80ies into the future

Late 80ies

What qualities and skills does one need to be successful? Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. Brengelmann and Dr. Wolfgang Strasser have done fundamental research in this area at the Max-Planck-Institute, Munich, and developed a scientific model containing all key factors of social competence which have a significant effect on professional success. After the basic research and test series at Max Planck Institute, these findings were converted into a measurement tool - the "birth" of DNLA in its original form.


Psychologists, HR-Experts and IT-experts have added their knowledge and experience to the system, helping to create the DNLA Human Resources Expert Systems.


Late 80ies/ Early 90ies

Those first program versions have been administrated and marketed by a consulting company called "BMC - Bank Management Consultants" - a consultancy specialised in software / technology and services for banks. First clients were mainly cooperative banks / mutual saving banks and insurance companies in Germany.


As growth continued, BMC was converted into SMP - Software for Management und Personalentwicklung and GMP - Gesellschaft für Management und Personalentwicklung - both predecessors to today´s DNLA GmbH.



GMP opened up franchises all across Germany, and expanded the partner Network across large parts of Central Europe. The International Partner Network expanded to Switzerland, Austria, the United Kingdom, but also to Finland and Estonia. SMP acted as development center and as center for technical support worldwide


At that time, already, large corporate clients like REWE, RICOH, Ford (Ford Europe & Ford Finland), BP (UK), Omega Watches (Switzerland) and Nokia were served - plus numerous banks and SMBs.


Later Partners in France, in the Netherlands, in Belgium, and in various Countries in Middle and Eastern Europe joined the DNLA experts network.


Technical developments, like the DNLA- Online-platform and further scientific development and measurement opportunities, such as the measurement of Intercultural Competence, based on the DNLA Social Competence Factors or the measures for Gender Competence and Diversity Competence in the DNLA Social Competence reports.



It became clear that bringing program development / technical department and program application / partner- and client-network under one roof would create synergies and various positive effects. So, in 2014 GMP took over responsibility of SMP, and both companies were merged into one. This new company traded under the brand name of our product: DNLA - Discovering Natural Latent Abilities.


At approximately the same time, we successfully concluded the development of the HR Balance Sheet! After earlier test periods and pilot projects, we introductied this concept into the market, for the first time ever offering an integrated value-creating system for entire companies and organizations, which enables our clinets to recognize and to develop the potential of their employees to the largest extent possible, creating high levels of Emotional Engagement, and the motication, willingness and abilitiy to perform at excellent levels!



Today, we further expand, beyond the limits of Europe, and we are ready to take the next step into the future - and all of you are invited to be a part of this development!
